The highly anticipated sequel to Road House, Road House 2, is set to star some of the biggest names in combat sports. After the original remake's success on Prime Video, Amazon MGM has assembled a cast that includes not just one, but six professional fighters. Among them are the renowned UFC stars Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and Michael 'Venom' Page, as well as Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson. Additionally, former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and GLORY heavyweight kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven join the fray. The sequel also welcomes back Jay Hieron, who previously portrayed a fighter named Jax Harris in the original film, engaging in flashbacks with Jake Gyllenhaal's character, Dalton. The cast further features former WWE superstar Dave Bautista and Aldis Hodge.
The original Road House remake, released in 2024, featured a notable absence: Conor McGregor, who played the role of Knox, a primary antagonist. However, McGregor is expected to return to the octagon in June 2026, with Michael Chandler potentially as his opponent. The sequel's production timeline remains uncertain, but it is anticipated to be a grand-scale production, filming in various locations including the United Kingdom, Malta, and Savannah, Georgia.
Interestingly, several cast members have prior acting experience. Verhoeven, for instance, has starred in Black Lotus and Den of Thieves 2. Woodley, too, has a history of acting, with roles in Straight Outta Compton and the TV series Cobra Kai. The question arises: will these fighters' involvement in the film impact their active fighting careers? Chandler, Page, and Thompson are currently competing in the UFC, leaving us to ponder the potential trade-offs between their fighting and acting pursuits.
